凌叔华以自己的生活经历作为小说的底根,书写女性在时代更替里的挣扎和成长。她笔下有三个不同时代层次的女性:旧时代的女性、新旧文化夹层里的女性和新时代的女性。她的小说记录了时代更替里女性的生存状况。凌叔华通过对女性婚恋观变迁和家庭地位变化的描写,诉说女性在自我意识觉醒过程中陷入的困境和遭遇的疼痛。

With her own life as the bottom root novels,Ling Shuhua wrote women's struggle and growth in the change of times.There were three different age levels of women in her novels,including women in the old age,women in the interlayer of old and new culture,and women in the new era. Her novel recorded women's life condition in the change of times. Through describing the changes of marriage and family status,Ling Shuhua told the difficulties and suffering of women in the awakening of self-awareness.
